Born in Cambridge and raised in the Fens, honorary Scotsman Richard Youngs began making music at the start of the 1970s. His early work centred on the piano. By the early '80s, however, the tape machine and guitar had become his instruments of choice, along with anything he could lay his hands on that made a sound. Through the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s, Richard has played any number of roles with bands such as Astral Social Club, Concrete Hedge, Jandek, and No Deserts. Recent collaborations with Andrew Paine, Luke Fowler plus Sushil Dade and Paul Thomson also mark him as a highly social musician.
